Brought to you courtesy of the U.S. Government!

While in D.C. I saw something that I just couldn't believe. In Washington D.C. there is now a tax on plastic bags, to cut down the use of plastic bags in order to be more environmentally friendly.  While I have no problem taking care of the environment, I think it is important to take care of the environment, but I don't think it is the governments job to make us take care of the environment.  And while the tax is only five cents per plastic bag, the principle is still wrong.  It is not the governments job to make the citizens do something, even something that might be important.  It's called individual freedom, freedom of choice.  Another problem with this is that this law seems insignificant, harmless even.  But that's the way it works, if someone decided to take over our freedoms all at once, well no one would stand for it, but when they take them away one at a time, slowly whittling away at our rights, they can slip these laws through, right under our noses.  The solution to this problem, well all those in Washington D.C. need to get in contact with their representatives and tell them to remove this law from existence.  The rest of us, we just need to be aware of what is going on, so that we can stop further attempts to take away our liberties, so that we can be aware that the federal government is expanding into other areas that aren't theirs.  Yes a five cents tax on plastic bags is not that big of a deal, but it is followed by the government interfering with our lives more and more.

For the record, I paid the stupid five cents for the bag, I refuse to be a pawn in the governments game.  HAHA!  LOL
